Lydig owners to develop campus in Valley for ITT

New $2.8 million structure to be built along Indiana

February 26, 1997
Linn Parish

A company formed by the owners of Spokane Valley-based Lydig Construction Inc. plans to develop a $2.8 million structure in the Valley that will be the future home of ITT Technical Institutes Spokane branch.

The company, East Indiana College Group LLC, has bought a 4.25-acre site at 13518 E. Indiana, roughly a mile west of the Spokane Valley Mall, for the planned single-story, 28,000-square-foot structure, says Bob Bennie, special projects group manager at Lydig.

East Indiana College Group will own the structure, and ITT will lease it, Bennie says.

Integrus Architecture PS, of Spokane, is designing the structure, and Lydig will be the contractor on the project.

Bennie says the building currently is in design. Lydig plans to file for a building permit in February and start construction the following month. The structure is expected to be completed in December 2004.

A representative of ITT Technical Institute here couldnt be reached.

The schools Spokane campus, which offers technology-related post-secondary degree programs, currently is located at 1050 N. Argonne and had 390 full-time equivalent students as of fall 2002, the latest count provided to the Journal. Its unclear how much space the school has at its current location.

ITT Educational Services Inc., of Indianapolis, operates 74 ITT Technical Institutes in 28 states.

David Dowers, of Dowers Commercial Real Estate Group Inc., and Joe Ward, of Pinnacle Realty Inc., handled the land transaction.
