270-lot project planned in Liberty Lake

Mixed residential site plans call for 350 units

December 17, 2020
Virginia Thomas

A 60-acre site just north of Mission Avenue in Liberty Lake is envisioned as the future home of a new mixed residential development, according to documents filed with the city’s planning and building services division.

A notice of application shows the development will be called River Crossing and will consist of 270 lots that will include a mix of 350 multifamily and single-family residential units for about 800 middle- and high-income occupants.

Centennial Properties and Inland Empire Paper Co. are listed as the owners of the site. A representative of Centennial Properties couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.

River Crossing will span much of the vacant former cropland just east of Orchard Park, west of the George Gee Kia dealership, and south of the Spokane River, and north of Mission Avenue. An address hasn’t yet been assigned to the site.

The designer and engineer are both listed as Greenstone Corp. The application doesn’t list a contractor.

Construction is expected to begin in 2021 and would take place in seven phases over the course of 10 years, according to the project’s environmental checklist.

The checklist also states that the development will include 11 new public roads—three that will run east-west and eight that will run north-south. Additionally, documents note that the development’s owner will make improvements to an adjoining arterial. Parts of the development site abut the north side of East Mission Avenue.
