Construction of 21 residential lots and a private road is expected to begin this summer at Bella Lago, a gated golf community in Liberty Lake, an application filed with the city shows.

The project is currently under environmental review and has not listed a contractor or architect for the project. The project owner, Big Rock Investments LLC, couldn't be reached for comment.

Located along North Bella Lago Lane, the 20.5-acre site is situated east of Liberty Lake Golf Course and southeast of Meadowwod Golf Course.

According to the application, construction will be broken into two phases. The first phase is expected to start this summer and consist of developing eight lots. The remaining 13 lots will be built in summer 2026 with an estimated completion about a year later. The entire site, including open space and the private road, encompasses 20.5 acres; the total acreage of the lots is 14 acres.

Records with the Spokane County Assessor show the 20.5-acre vacant property was purchased last June for $849,000 by Big Rock Investment Group LLC. An additional 10 acres directly above the 20-acre property and directly east of Meadwwood Golf Course is also associated with the project, although plans have not been disclosed for that land.

The project is a continuation of the original Bella Lago project that was completed in 2008.

As reported by the Journal of Business, Bella Lago is a 47-acre housing development north of Valleyway Avenue and on the east edge of Meadowwood Golf Course, near Liberty Lake Golf Course. In 2006, developers for the project planned to section off 45 lots ranging in size from half an acre to 3 acres.

The 2006 to 2008 phase of the project was developed by Bella Lago LLC and called for the development of high-end homes. The lots were sold starting at about $200,000, with high-end home values starting at around $600,000, the Journal reported.

According to an online listing of one of the homes in the gated community, a five-bedroom, three-bathroom home is priced at $1.2 million.
