Webiness, founded by Ethernet guru Bernard Daines as a Web-site design and hosting company, is getting out of that business, says Daines brother, Dan Daines, Webiness general manager.


In February, Artesian Direct, a Liberty Lake-based computer-hardware and Internet appliance customization company, announced that it had bought the assets of Webiness and had made it a division of its company.


However, Dan Daines says now that negotiations for that sale were never concluded, and that Artesian Directs February announcement was unauthorized.


Nicole Shea, an Artesian Direct spokeswoman declined to discuss the matter and referred questions to Dan Daines.


Daines says Webiness currently is arranging for a recently formed Liberty Lake-based company, called Computational Scientific Laboratories, to handle Web hosting and design services for Webiness customers. He says a contractual agreement should be in place by the end of this month.


Daines declines to disclose for now what services Webiness plans to offer once it divests its Web design and hosting work. He currently is the businesss only employee.


Artesian Direct, meanwhile, plans to move to the Liberty Lake Office Building, at 2310 N. Molter, next week from its current space in a building at 23403 E. Mission thats owned by Bernard Daines and is called the Liberty Lake Internet Portal building.


Artesians Shea says the company has decided to move to larger quarters to accommodate anticipated growth. The company, which employs 18 people, currently leases about 5,000 square feet of floor space in the Internet Portal building and will lease about 7,200 square feet of space on the second floor of the Liberty Lake Office Building.


Bernard Daines, also founder of World Wide Packets here, says some of World Wide Packets employees eventually might move into the space that Artesian Direct plans to vacate.


Last March, World Wide Packets moved about 30 employees in its sales, global service and support, and quality-assurance departments, as well as some administrative staff, to the Internet Portal building. The companys remaining about 100 employees stayed at its headquarters at 115 N. Sullivan.
