Multifamily project to add 192 units near Mead

Lanzce Douglass development valued at $14 million

January 18, 2024

Spokane developer Lanzce Douglass has applications for four building permits under review for a 192-unit apartment complex development in north Spokane County, county permit information shows.

Dubbed North Woods Apartments, the development will occupy 6.4 acres of vacant land at 1565 E. Farwell Road, west of Northwood Middle School, in the Mead School District.

As proposed, each structure will be four stories tall with 48 living units.

Individually, each apartment building is valued at $3.5 million, and the overall construction value is listed at about $14 million.

As planned, North Woods Apartments will have over 243,600 square feet of residential space, about 311 parking stalls, and an undetermined number of electric vehicle charging stations, according to the environmental application.

Russell C. Page Architects PS, of Spokane Valley, designed the project, and Whipple Consulting Engineers Inc., also of Spokane Valley, is providing engineering services.

Lanzce G. Douglass Inc., of Spokane, is the general contractor named on permit records.

North Woods Apartments on Farwell LLC, a property management company owned by Douglass, purchased the land for the project for $2 million in September 2021, tax information shows.

The site is designated for infill development within the county's urban growth area and is zoned for high-density residential use, according to tax information and environmental documents submitted for the project.

Construction originally was expected to start last summer and continue through fall 2026, but the building applications were under review by Spokane County as of last week.
