Lucas Kjar, president and founder of Liberty Lake-based MODE, is connecting multiple businesses and learning concepts under one roof.
Kjar purchased a 220,000-square-foot structure with two floors and a basement on 21 acres of land in October of 2022. MODE Campus Liberty Lake, part of the Meadowwood Technology campus, has become home to Liberty Lake Academy, an amphitheater, a coworking space, gyms, and more than 50 office suites for other businesses, including marketing firms, architects, law firms, and tech companies.
As previously reported in the Journal, Kjar said the idea of the campus was to simplify the lives of professionals and parents by convening essential services, industries, and amenities under one roof. “It’s a lifestyle campus,” says Kjar. “It’s where wellness, creativity, and community converge, empowering individuals to live with intention and balance.”
In addition to his role at MODE, Kjar is the founder of Liberty Warriors Club, a rugby and wrestling club designed to encourage athletic development, teamwork, and leadership skills in young athletes.
Education: Associate degree in business administration, Western Wyoming Community College.
What's the best piece of advice you've received? The best piece of advice I’ve received came from my wife, who put a quote on our wall at home that says, “Have a dream so big, that unless God intervenes, it would surely fail.” It’s a reminder that there are no limits to what we can achieve when we set our sights high. This quote has become a guiding principle for me, both personally and professionally.
If you had one wish for Spokane, what would it be? To inspire the community to gather with purpose.
If you could change anything about your industry, how would you change it? To value the power of building community and relationships.
What advice would you have for others looking to follow a career path similar to yours? Don't give up. Failure is feedback. It's not a matter of if you'll fail, but when you fail and how you handle that failure or setback.
