Playfair Commerce Park to take next step in expansion

Warehouse is one of four in current building stage

August 13, 2020

Playfair Commerce Park is looking to start construction on the next stage of its expansion, starting with a $3.1 million, nearly 51,200-square-foot warehouse dubbed Playfair 14, according to a permit application on file with the city of Spokane.

L.B. Stone Properties LLC, the development company owned by Spokane businessman Lawrence B. Stone, currently has four new buildings in the works, according to a site plan on the company’s website.

A representative of the company couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.

The 58-acre Playfair Commerce Park is located in east Spokane, east of Haven Street, north of Sprague Avenue, and south of Trent Avenue.

The Playfair 14 project will be located at 101 N. Haven, on the east end of the complex.

In addition to Playfair 14, the company is planning three buildings totaling 95,200 square feet of space. They will be constructed on the northwest, southwest, and northeast edges of the park.

Including Playfair 14, the total square footage of the new buildings will exceed 146,000 square feet.

The Playfair 14 project will be a single-story shell warehouse to be built using the concrete tilt-up method. It will have a steel roof, much like the existing structures in the park, according to application information.

Divcon Inc., of Spokane, is the general contractor on the project, and Architectural Ventures, of Spokane Valley, designed it. Simpson Engineers Inc., of Spokane Valley, is providing engineering services.

When construction on the four planned buildings is complete, Playfair will have 12 industrial buildings totaling over 730,000 square feet.

In total, about 112,200 square feet of space is unoccupied in the commerce park, 60,800 square feet of which is in the Playfair 8 warehouse, which recently was completed on the north side of the park just south of the railroad tracks, according to the company’s website.

Divcon was also the contractor on that project.
