Spokane Valley-based Numerica Credit Union announced today that it's laying off 25 employees, or 3.5% of its workforce, as part of internal structuring.

Carla Cicero, Numerica president and CEO, attributes the staff cuts to the evolving economic landscape and changing needs of its members.

“We value the contributions of all of our team members and deeply regret the need for these layoffs,” Cicero says in a press release. “We are committed to supporting our affected employees through this transition.”

Impacted team members will receive severance packages that include job placement support, such as resume review and interview coaching, Cicero says.

She says Numerica’s financial position remains strong. All branches will remain open, and services will continue uninterrupted.

Numerica is the second-largest credit union based in the Spokane area. The credit union operates 21 branches and serves more than 175,000 members in Eastern and Central Washington and North Idaho, according to the release.

Numerica recently opened its Five Mile branch in northwest Spokane and announced plans to construct a branch in Sandpoint, Idaho.

The federally insured institution has more than $5 billion in assets under management.
