| Dylan HarrisDevelopers are considering new plans to revamp the 25,000-square-foot former Glen Dow Academy property in downtown Spokane, according to a predevelopment conference application on file with the city of Spokane.
The five-level building, located at 309 W. Riverside, on the southwest corner of Riverside Avenue and Bernard Street in downtown Spokane, was purchased by Spokane-based N Dowed LLC in February for $1.6 million, Washington state tax records show.
Representatives of N Dowed couldn't be reached immediately for comment.
Studio + Architects LLC, of Spokane, is designing the $3 million remodel project, the predevelopment application shows.
Preliminary design plans call for a 3,000-square-foot speakeasy venue featuring a bar, a private cigar lounge, as well as restrooms and storage areas on the basement level.
Above the proposed venue, on the first and second floors, a restaurant featuring games, such as duckpin bowling and darts, is planned, in addition to a bar, seating, and mezzanine-deck access, plans show.
The third floor will be focused on residential use with a mix of two studios, four one-bedroom units, four lofts, and a small rooftop deck.
The Glen Dow Academy of Hair Design & Salons Inc. previously operated in the building for 55 years before closing its doors in March, as previously reported by the Journal.
