May 30, 2025
Journal of Business Staff

A record number of visitors descended upon Spokane County last year and spent a record amount of money, according to new data from Visit Spokane, Spokane’s regional destination marketing organization.

Visitors to Spokane County hit a record of 10.1 million, a total volume increase of 2.9% from the previous year.

Visitor spending reached $1.53 billion, with a reported breakdown of $429 million in food and beverages; $376 million in lodging; $328 million in retail; $262 million in transportation; and $133 million in recreation and entertainment. The total number is an increase of 2% over 2023.

“This surge not only underscores the undeniable allure of our community but also proves the power of tourism and its impact on our local economy,” says Visit Spokane president & CEO Rose Noble in a press release. “Tourism sustains our local businesses and provides thousands of jobs. We are excited to welcome even more guests to experience the beauty and hospitality of our region.”

The direct impact of the visitor spending generated $400 million in indirect sales, and $440 million in induced sales impacts, with a total economic impact of $2.4 billion for the Spokane County economy, reports Visit Spokane.

Visit Spokane collaborates on the report directly with Tourism Economics, a global market research company based in Philadelphia.
