Journal names its 2025 Rising Stars class

Honorees to be recognized at September event

The Journal of Business has selected its 2025 Rising Stars. 

They are: 

  • Anna Alsept, director of sports management, Spokane Sports.
  • Nicole Bishop, philanthropy manager, SNAP, and board director, Spokane Public Schools.
  • James Connelly, CEO, Impact Laboratories.
  • Matthew Danielson, executive director, Spokane Pride.
  • Lucas Desgrosellier, CEO, GhoulzTube LLC.
  • Joey Gunning, director of economic development, Greater Spokane Incorporated.
  • Sonja Jensen, Washington state president, AgWest Farm Credit.
  • Melissa Koontz, senior vice president, employee benefits, HUB International.
  • Micaela Kostecka, director of marketing, Kiemle Hagood.
  • Brian Washburn, regional administrator, Praxis Health.

This year’s honorees will be recognized at an event on the evening of Thursday, Sept. 11, at Barrister Winery, at 1213 W. Railroad, in downtown Spokane. Tickets for the event are now available at spokanejournal.com/RisingStars.

The 2025 class of Rising Stars is the 12th to be chosen by the Journal. To be eligible for Rising Stars, individuals must be under 40 years old, work in the Spokane-Coeur d’Alene area, and demonstrate excellence in their chosen fields and leadership in the business community as a whole.

Past Rising Stars include prominent names in business, including BuyWander CEO Jordan Allen, Baker Construction & Development Inc. CEO Brooke Baker Spink, Revival Tea Co. CEO Drew Henry, and Bank of America Merrill Lynch market executive Lauren Murray, among many others.
