New townhomes planned near Liberty Park

A $1.2 million townhome development is under development in Spokane's East Central neighborhood, located at 1728 E. Hartson, immediately south of the Liberty Park Aquatic Center.

The property is owned by Wilmington, Delaware-based GenJet Inc., a company representative says. This is the first project in Spokane for the company, which selected Spokane for the project because the city encourages new multifamily projects, the GenJet representative says in an email to the Journal. The site also offers nearby access to amenities in the South Perry District neighborhood, the Ben Burr Trail, and Liberty Pool.

Plans for the site, dubbed The Switchback, include the construction of two 4,000-square-foot buildings with four units in each. Four of the residential units will be two stories and about 950 square feet in size each. The remaining four units will have three stories and 1,150 square feet of space.

Each unit is structurally independent, though clustered together into two buildings, according to GenJet.

The project is referred to as a unit lot subdivision that allows a property to be divided from a ‘parent lot’ into multiple ‘child lots, providing greater design flexibility for the residential project and allowing child lots to be sold separately, according to GenJet.

Spokane-based Press Architecture LLC designed the project. A general contractor has not yet been selected, according to the company representative.

Work is expected to begin in spring 2026. A targeted completion for the project is expected in late 2026.

GenJet purchased the property for $149,900 in July 2025, Washington state tax information shows.
