Kilgore Tec Products Inc. is expanding its distribution territory and plans to grow its Spokane Valley workforce by about 40% as the building-envelope contractor targets 100% sales growth over the next five years.
Kilgore Tec Products furnishes and installs exterior building systems for commercial construction projects, including translucent and metal panels, skylights, canopies, windows, sunshades, louvers, and other building-envelope products. The company also works with architects and engineers on project design assistance.
The Spokane Valley-based company currently employs 15 people, including eight office employees and seven field workers, says Sheryl Rasmusson, Kilgore Tec Products president and CEO. Hiring will focus primarily on field workers, estimators, and sales positions, she notes.
The company’s distribution territory expansion is prompted by Kalwall Corp., a New Hampshire-based manufacturer of translucent lighting systems. Kalwall Corp. is growing throughout Washington and Oregon while maintaining work in northern and central Idaho, says Rasmusson.
Kilgore supplies, builds, and installs Kalwall translucent architectural panels, skylights, canopies, and daylighting wall systems for commercial construction in the region.
In addition to a growing workforce, Kilgore Tec Products also is working to increase sales and revenue. Rasmusson says she's targeting 50% sales growth over the next year, 75% growth within three years, and 100% growth within five years.
Rasmusson anticipates this growth will build upon the gains achieved since the company changed hands
"In year one of the change in ownership we grew 6%," Rasmusson says. "Now in year two, we are currently above 15%, with anticipated growth of 25% to 30% in the next 12 to 18 months with the expansion."
The company's expansion also provides an opportunity for the business to develop more skilled workers, including those without previous industry experience, she says. Kilgore Tec Products is expecting to collaborate with schools, community colleges, trade programs, and workforce organizations as a way to introduce more people to construction careers.
“My goal is to create a company where talented people can grow from entry-level positions into skilled tradespeople, project managers, estimators, sales professionals, and leaders,” Rasmusson says. “We can and will teach anyone wanting to learn.”
Mike Kilgore and Joe Holcombe founded Kilgore Architectural Products in Spokane in 1998. Rasmusson and Robert Dean Watkins purchased the company in 2024 rebranding to Kilgore Tec Products, according to the company's website. The business has subsequently obtained Women Business Enterprise, Small Business Enterprise, Disadvantaged Business Enterprise, and Public Works Small Business Enterprise certifications through the Washington state Office of Minority and Women’s Business Enterprises.
