Two retail projects planned on West Plains

Spring start expected for new North 40

March 26, 2020
Mike McLean

Plans are expected to go forward this spring for a North 40 Outfitters farm store on the west edge of Spokane, near where a retail development to be anchored by a Bush Car Wash also is planned.

The $6.5 million North 40 farm and ranch store will be located on vacant land at 9656 W. U.S. 2, at the northeast corner of the highway and Deer Heights Road, just northeast of Village Center Cinemas.

The North 40 store has been long planned, but the start of construction has been awaiting completion of a traffic roundabout at the intersection.

A building permit application on file with the city of Spokane indicates the store will occupy a new two-story building with nearly 90,000 square feet of floor space.

Coeur d’Alene-based Young Construction Group of Idaho Inc. is the contractor on the project, which was designed by H2A Architects PA, also of Coeur d’Alene.

About a half mile east of the North 40 site, construction is expected to begin this summer on a $9.5 million commercial center to be anchored by a Bush Car Wash, at 9014 W. Hilton Avenue, on a 4.5-acre development site which fronts the north side of U.S. 2.

Bush Car Wash is a family owned chain based in Kennewick, Washington.

Baker Construction & Development Inc., of Spokane, is the contractor on the project, and Wave Design Group, of Kennewick, designed it.

A preliminary site plan shows four other buildings in addition to the car wash. The plans recently were updated with a building permit application for a 2,300-square-foot Bruchi’s Cheesesteak & Subs sandwich restaurant.

The coffee shop will be an outlet of Roasters Coffee.
