Stormin’ Norman’s Shipfaced Saloon, a new Spokane Valley bar, is set to open early next week at 12303 E. Trent.

The business is co-owned by Spokane couple Carrie and Norman Thomson, who purchased the 3,000-square-foot building along Trent in May and have been working to remodel it into a nautical-themed sports bar.

Thomson says Stormin’ Norman’s includes an 1,800-square-foot main space with 20 televisions and two bars, both of which are shaped to look like boats.

“The building has an outdoor patio, and we’re working to put in a new garage door that will extend that space,” she says.

Thomson says the bar will have eight to 10 employees to start. 

The saloon will offer a full menu, including breakfast, as well as typical appetizers and entrees, such as burgers, pasta, and pizza.

“For drinks, we plan to have 16 taps, one of which will be a monthly featured local brewer,” Thomson says.

 “We hope to have live bands in the parking lot throughout the summer and those events will be 21-plus. We’ll also have karaoke and trivia nights,” she says. “But overall, we hope this will be a low-key place where people come to watch sports and have a drink.” 

The couple previously owned two bars along Trent Avenue: Bottoms Up, which is now The Rock Bar & Lounge, at 13921 E. Trent; and Daley’s Cheap Shots, at 6412 E. Trent.

Carrie Thomson says the couple decided to open Stormin’ Norman’s, following its namesake’s recent retirement.

“Norm had just retired and sold his insulation and asbestos company, and this space became available,” she says.
