15-unit apartment project rises near South Perry District

The Second Scott LLC, a Portland, Ore.-based real estate developer, is constructing a $2.6 million, 15-unit apartment building at 743 S. Scott, near Spokane’s South Perry District, says company partner Jordan Samiee, one of the owners.

Samiee says the project site for the currently unnamed three-story apartment structure is directly across the street from a 12-unit apartment building at 712 S. Scott, which was developed last year by Oregon-based Northrock Island LLC, also co-owned by Samiee.

Baker Construction & Development Inc., of Spokane, is the contractor on the current project, and Trek Architecture, also of Spokane, designed it.

The new Scott Street apartments will consist of 12 two-bedroom units and three one-bedroom units, he says. The interior will include stainless-steel appliances, full-sized washers and dryers. Apartment countertops most likely will be granite.

The flooring on each level will be made of polished concrete. In addition to being durable, the material is “really good for soundproofing” apartments, asserts Samiee.

The project also includes a detached 2,300-square foot, 13-stall parking garage, he says.

Construction is underway at the formerly vacant project site and is expected to be completed in December, Samiee says.

No future tenants have signed on yet, but Samiee says the first Scott Street apartments filled up quickly.

Duris Construction LLC, of Spokane, was the contractor on the first project, and Wolfe Architectural Group PS, of Spokane designed it.
