Gonzaga University plans this year to begin building a roughly $48 million  building for both its College of Arts and Science and its School of Engineering and Applied Science.

Named the Center for Integrated Sciences and Engineering, the 80,000-square-foot facility is expected to receive final approval from the university’s board of trustees next month, says Gonzaga spokeswoman Mary Joan Hahn.

The university is hoping to break ground this spring and wrap up the project in the fall of 2019. The project architects are SRG Partnership Inc., of Portland, Ore.; Integrus Architecture PS, of Spokane; and Research Facilities Design, of San Diego, Calif.

Meanwhile, work continues on the $36 million, 57,600-square-foot Myrtle Woldson Performing Arts Center. The two-story performing arts center is located on the west side of campus near the Jundt Art Center & Museum.

Hahn says work on that project is expected to be finished in March 2019.

Pfeiffer Partners, of Los Angeles, and Bernardo|Wills Architects PC, of Spokane, are the architects, and Lydig Construction Inc., of Spokane Valley, is the contractor.

Following the completion of the Della Strada Jesuit Community building construction last year, the old Jesuit House is now being converted into a new Humanities Building, says Hahn. Construction on the $5.7 million project is expected to be completed July. Integrus Architects PS and Walker Construction Inc., both of Spokane, are the architect and general contractor, respectively.
