Cancer Care Northwest to expand North Side clinic

Practice will add machine with 4-D imaging capability

July 20, 2017

Spokane-based Cancer Care Northwest, a physician-owned oncology practice, wants to expand its clinic space at the Northpointe Office Plaza, at 605 E. Holland, in North Spokane, says a permit application submitted to the city of Spokane.

Dr. Jason Call, the practice president for Cancer Care Northwest, says the $750,000 expansion will enable the clinic to install a second, image-guided radiation therapy machine at the North Side clinic, at 605 E. Holland.

Cancer Care Northwest occupies 13,400-square feet of space on the main level of Northpointe Office Plaza. An additional 1,400-square feet will be added with the new construction, the permit application says.

With enhanced imaging capabilities, radiation therapy machines can be customized to treat tumors effectively in areas of the body that move, such as the lungs. The radiation therapy machines, combined with their imaging technology, enable doctors to image tumors before and during treatment, Call says.

“We need this extra machine and this space to effectively treat more patients who use that clinic,” he says.

The project architect is JKS Design, and the project engineer is Axiom Structural Design Inc., which are both based in Modesto, Calif. The general contractor is Columbia, Calif.-based Weller Construction Inc., according to the permit application.

Cancer Care Northwest offers a full range of care and support services at clinics in Eastern Washington and North Idaho.

The practice operates a Valley clinic, at 1204 N. Vercler Road; a South Spokane clinic, at 601 S. Sherman; and a hospital district clinic, at 910 W. Fifth.

Cancer Care Northwest also is managing partner of the InnerPacific Alliance for Cancer Care, a regional cancer alliance that includes Spokane-based Providence Health Care and Coeur d’Alene-based Kootenai Health.

The practice also has outreach clinics in five smaller Eastern Washington cities: Chewelah, Colville, Grand Coulee, Moses Lake, and Ritzville.

Just to the northeast of the Division Y, the 107,400-square foot Northpointe Office Plaza also is home to a a number of other tenants, which include a Rockwood Clinic branch and a dental and orthodontics practice, as well as insurance and financial planning offices.
