Auto parts distributor gets permits for big plant

Garco named contractor on $20.4 million project

April 9, 2015

Keystone Automotive Operations Inc. has obtained permits from Spokane County to construct footings and foundations for a $20.4 million warehouse distribution building on the West Plains.

The Exeter, Pa.-based aftermarket automotive parts and accessories distributor also has submitted a building permit application to construct the shell of the 250,000-square-foot building planned at 9212 W. Hallett Road, Spokane County permit information shows. That application was under review by the county building department as of last week.

Keystone said last month that it plans to open the new distribution center at the northwest corner of Hallett and Thomas Mal-len roads, next to the 562,000-square-foot Caterpillar Logistic Services Inc. distribution plant.

Garco Construction Inc., of Spokane, is the contractor on the project.

The building will include 5,200 square feet of office space, with the remainder to be warehouse space, permit application information shows.

Keystone has said it expects to hire 60 people to work at the facility.

Keystone distributes 300,000 distinct parts from 800 suppliers and manufacturers. The company operates six warehouses and 44 smaller sorting facilities in the U.S. and Canada.
