Village Toffee Haus has leased 1,900 square feet of space in a two-story building formerly occupied by Johnson’s Television Service, at 4424 N. Wall, where co-owners James and Linda Wormell plan to open the specialty candy-making and gift store by July.
James Wormell says the store will be similar to a business the couple ran under the same name in Leavenworth, Wash., until a few years ago.
“We will do all types of higher-quality handmade candies from our own recipes,” Wormell says.
Village Toffee Haus also will feature items produced by selected farmers’ market types of craftspeople, artists, and specialty food makers, he says.
“We will sell honey, jams, jellies, soaps, and barbecue sauce,” Wormell says. “The store will be a place to buy quality products not available in major stores. They will all be locally sourced or made in the Pacific Northwest.”
The store also will bundle items into gift baskets, he says.
Wormell says the owners likely will operate the store with no other employees.
Jody Johnson and Ryan Towner, both of Spokane-based commercial real estate brokerage NAI Black, negotiated the lease.
