Sharkey's Cuts for Kids to open on North Side

A new Sharkey’s Cuts for Kids salon is slated to open in spring in the Cedar Crossing commercial development, at 6501 N. Cedar, on Spokane’s North Side.

The shop will be a franchise of Westport, Conn.-based national Sharkey’s chain.

Franchisees Michelle and Kevin Mount are leasing the 1,200-square-foot-space from Brumback Inc., of Spokane, which also is handling the tenant improvements, including installing new drywall and updating plumbing and electrical systems.

With a staff of at least eight people, Sharkey’s Cuts will have colorful kiddie stations designed to imitate popular cartoons and themes, such as a Lightning McQueen car and a Frozen-themed Jeep. Other stations include a police car and fire truck that kids can sit in while they get a haircut.

The shop will have four Netflix screens to occupy little ones, three Xbox systems for older children to play video games, and a large, 75-inch television for others to watch, Kevin Mount says.

Mount says in addition to the standard haircuts, Sharkey’s will offer a hair, nails, and makeup spa package called Day of Beauty, which will include an hour in the shop’s Tween Lounge glamour room.

Prices for services and other details are still being established, according to Mount.
