One Tree Hard Cider has moved to a new location in Spokane Valley that greatly expands its production space, says owner Grant Barnes. 

The business has leased 32,000 square feet at 9514 E. Montgomery and has moved there from a 1,200-square-foot space at 9608 E. Montgomery, Barnes says.

Part of the new space, about 250 square feet, is being used as a tasting room, a new addition to the business. The new location also includes a small retail space where Barnes sells the hard cider in 22-ounce bottles and refills growlers. The One Tree Hard Cider tasting room is open Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. 

Barnes says the increasing popularity of hard cider and the quick growth of the company prompted the move.  One Tree Hard Cider opened for business in June 2014, selling to restaurants and tap houses.

“We’ve grown really fast, and the hard cider business is quite busy,” Barnes says. 

Only recently has Barnes even been a fan of the drink. He says on Father’s Day 2013, his wife bought him a cider kit to make the drink at home. Later, he tasted what was available in stores and was disappointed in the quality and flavor selection. He decided to start making his own. Now, he and one employee make the cider in several flavors, including traditional apple, semi-sweet ginger, cranberry and caramel cinnamon. 

Along with his current customers, Barnes says he recently signed on with a Western Washington distributor that he expects will provide access to many more wholesale customer sites throughout the state. “So we’ll be available across the state for people to buy our bottles or kegs,” he says.
