Telect to consolidate U.S. operations in Liberty Lake

.

November 18, 2014
Staff Report

Telect Inc., the Liberty Lake-based manufacturer of communications networking equipment, plans to close its Plano, Texas, facility and consolidate its U.S. operations in Liberty Lake.

Wayne Williams, president and CEO of Telect, says the company has notified the company’s 116 people in Plano that they will be laid off. Williams says the company plans to hire additional workers for the facility here, but it hasn’t determined how many positions it will need to add.

The company currently employs roughly 100 people here.

Telect is negotiating a lease for a property in Liberty Lake to house its headquarters, operations, and customer-fulfillment center. Williams declines to disclose the location until the lease is finalized, but he says the company hopes to be able to occupy the building next month.

The company plans to move one product line to Liberty Lake from Plano by year-end, and the rest of the operations are expected to move here by March 1.

Telect will continue to manufacture products in Guadalajara, Mexico.
