Work is well under way in Liberty Lake on a $30 million Caterpillar dealership facility for Meridian, Idaho-based Western States Equipment Co.
Bouten Construction Co., of Spokane, is the general contractor on the project, and Pete Rockwell, of Boise, Idaho-based Glancey Rockwell & Associates Inc., designed it.
The project site is on 29 acres of land located at 20150 E. Cataldo, next to Camping World, on the western edge of Liberty Lake
The dealership project includes a 106,000-square-foot, two-story main building, a 10,700-square-foot, two-story rental building, and 680 square feet of smaller outbuildings. Plans show the facilities will have 17 main shop service bays, nine rental store service bays, and a secure equipment yard with check-in shack to control operations.
The main building will be constructed with cross-laminated timber manufactured by Colville, Washington-based Vaagen Timbers LLC.
Other improvements include landscaping and a half-mile walking path.
Western States originally had planned to begin construction in September 2020, but the project was paused during a dispute between the company and the city of Spokane Valley over the wear that heavy trucks could put on Cataldo Avenue inside the city.
An agreement reached in December 2020 allowed the project to proceed.
Once the project is complete, the company will move its entire Spokane workforce to the new space. Its current Spokane-area locations are at 4624 E. Trent and at 520 N. Dyer Road.
