West Side-based security concern opens Valley outlet

Absco Alarms anticipates continued growth as it debuts second outlet here

June 6, 2013
Mike McLean

Absco Alarms Inc., a Lynnwood, Wash.-based supplier of security surveillance systems, has leased 1,600 square feet of space in the Spokane Business & Industrial Park, at 3020 N. Sullivan, in Spokane Valley, where it has opened a Spokane sales and installation outlet, says Erick Slabaugh, Absco's CEO.

The company specializes in providing security systems for commercial, industrial, and government campus applications, Slabaugh says.

"We've done work in Spokane over the years, although we haven't had a physical presence in Spokane," he says.

Dean Stuart, director of marketing with the Spokane Business & Industrial Park, and Sam Morse, of the Spokane commercial real estate brokerage Cantu Commercial Properties LLC, negotiated the lease.

Absco currently employs a sales person and an installer at the Valley location, and likely will hire more people here before year-end, Slabaugh says.

"I think we'll add another salesperson in the next couple of months and then a couple of technicians," he says. "The volume we're doing east of the mountains is continuing to increase."

Slabaugh says Absco's 2012 revenues were 57 percent higher than the year-earlier revenues, and he's expecting another increase this year of at least 33 percent.

The Valley location is Absco's second outlet, and the company hopes to open additional outlets, he says.

"We got some expansion plans over the next couple of years," Slabaugh says. "The next location probably will be in Portland, but we're still doing market research."

Addison E-Cigarettes LLC, of Spokane, which does business as Wholesale E-Liquid to the Public, a supplier of electronic cigarette merchandise, has leased 1,000 square feet of space in the Behm Center, at 9405 E. Hollywood Nails, a new Coeur d'Alene nail salon, has leased 1,700 square feet of retail space in the Coeur d'Alene Town Center, at 101 E. Best. Chris Bell, of NAI Black, handled the transaction.

Jeff McGougan, and Don Jamieson, both of NAI Black, and Gregg Patterson, of Plese Realty LLC, handled the transaction.

CompuNet Inc., a Meridian, Idaho-based information technology concern, has leased 2,700 square feet of floor space in the North Valley Business Park, at 15320 E. Marietta, for a new office. James S. Black III, of NAI Black, and Mark Lucas, of Kiemle & Hagood Co., handled the transaction.
