Century West plans move to another Valley building

Engineering firm to occupy entire 6,100-square-foot structure

November 21, 2012
Mike McLean

Portland, Ore-based Century West Engineering Corp. has leased a 6,100-square-foot Spokane Valley office building at 11707 E. Montgomery Drive and plans to move there next month from smaller quarters it has long occupied about three miles east of there.

Sheri Hare, Century West's human resources manager, says Century West will be the sole occupant in the single-story building near the junction of Montgomery and Indiana Road. Century West currently occupies about 5,000 square feet of space on the second floor of a three-story multitenant building at 1824 N. Hutchinson, also in Spokane Valley.

The company has a staff of 14 people, including seven engineers at the Valley office, Hare says. Business has remained steady in the last few years, although somewhat slower than its prerecession peak, she says.

Century West's specialty areas are municipal and airport projects.

Its municipal emphasis includes planning, designing, and overseeing construction of water distribution systems and wastewater treatment plants, while its aviation focus includes similar responsibilities relating to airport runways, lighting, security, and access-road projects.

The Spokane Valley office is the company's largest office, Hare says. It also has a one-person satellite office in Coeur d'Alene at 1110 W. Park, and other offices in Ellensburg, Wash., and Bend, Ore., in addition to its headquarters in Portland.

Commercial real estate agents Jon Jeffreys, of NAI Black, and Dan Cantu, of Cantu Commercial Properties LLC, both of Spokane, handled the lease.
