Work has started on a $1.2 million medical clinic and surgery center for Pain Management of North Idaho LLC in the Riverstone mixed-use development in northwest Coeur d'Alene.

Polin & Young Construction Inc., of Coeur d'Alene, is the contractor on the project, and h2a Architects PA, also of Coeur d'Alene, designed it, Kelli Hancock, a spokeswoman for Polin & Young says in a press release about the project.

BC Engineers Inc., of Hayden, Idaho, is the structural engineer on the project, Hancock says.

The single-story, 6,700-square-foot facility, which Pain Management of North Idaho will own, will include clinic space and an outpatient surgery center with two procedure rooms, plus recovery rooms and support space, she says.

The project site is at 1686 W. Riverstone, in the Riverstone Park section of the Riverstone development, south of the Village at Riverstone and just east of the Advanced Dermatology & Skin Surgery PLLC medical office building that was constructed last year.

Hancock describes the design as a combination of "Northwest vernacular," using gable roofs, stone masonry, and heavy timbers.

Dr. Scott Magnuson founded Pain Management of North Idaho in 2001 to provide specialized treatment for patients in chronic pain. Magnuson, a graduate of Creighton University School of Medicine, at Omaha, Neb., established an affiliated practice, North Idaho Pain Center, in 2005 to perform outpatient surgeries.

The two practices, which have a combined staff of 11 and currently are located in adjacent suites on the third floor of Kootenai Medical Center, at 2003 Kootenai Health Way, will move to the Riverstone building, Hancock says.

Polin & Young expects to complete the project in April, she says.

U.S. Bank is financing the project. Brad Baldwin, of Baldwin Corporate Real Estate, of Hayden, Idaho, handled the property transaction.
