On-Top Realty adds space on East Second
On-Top Realty Inc., a full-service real estate brokerage launched earlier this year by Nick Barnes and his grandfather, Orville Barnes, a Spokane-area commercial real estate veteran, has expanded its office space just east of downtown Spokane.
The brokerage has leased 900 square feet of additional space in a commercial building at 611 E. Second to boost its total space there to about 2,150 square feet, Nick Barnes says.
The additional space provides room for the four-agent brokerage to grow, Barnes says, adding, "Our goal is to get to 15 to 20 agents." Also, he says, Shamrock Construction & Maintenance Co., owned by his father, Ron Barnes, will occupy some space there, and the brokerage and the construction company will share a secretary.
On-Top Realty has focused initially on residential and commercial property management, but Barnes says, "We're looking to expand into commercial sales and get more into commercial leasing."
Big Cigar LLC, of Spokane, developed the 6,200-square-foot commercial building on East Second, converting a former warehouse structure. The building now is fully leased, with Salon Services & Supplies Inc. and a lighting business occupying the rest of the space there.
Kevin Edwards, of Hawkins Edwards Inc., and Nick Barnes handled the lease of On-Top Realty's new space.
Car care business opens in the Valley
A new independent car maintenance and repair business, called TireSmith's Complete Car Care, has opened in Spokane Valley.
The business is located in leased quarters at 523 N. Pines, at the southwest corner of Pines Road and Alki Avenue, just south across Alki from Pines Middle School. In all, it occupies about 4,400 square feet of space there, including six service bays, says owner Jay Smith.
"We can help customers with anything to do with tires, wheels, and general auto repair, both domestic and foreign. Some of the services we perform are brakes, shocks, alignment, and diagnostic work. We offer both consumer and fleet services," Smith says.
Along with Smith, the business employs a service adviser and three auto technicians who altogether have nearly 50 years of auto service experience. Smith says his service adviser is a certified Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Master Technician, and another technician at the business has several other ASE certifications.
Auburn lingerie retailer opens shop in Valley
Peekay Inc., an Auburn, Wash.-based lingerie and intimate-goods retailer, has opened a new store, called Lovers, in Spokane Valley.
The outlet is located in a 5,800-square-foot space at 13917 E. Sprague. It's Peekay's second Spokane-area outlet and the company's 21st Lovers store overall. The other store here is located at 3411 N. Division, on Spokane's North Side.
Peekay founder Phyllis Heppenstall says in a press release, "Our original Spokane store on Division Street has been tremendously successful, and we're excited to open our second area location."
Founded in 1981, Peekay operates a total of more than 30 stores in Washington and California, counting nine that operate under other names. None of those other stores are located in the Inland Northwest.
Cd'A bridal shop is sold, to relocate
Misty Ceriello, of Coeur d'Alene, says she has bought most of the assets of Storybook Bridal, located in the Coeur d'Alene Resort Plaza, at 210 Sherman, and plans to move the business shortly to a larger space on Northwest Boulevard.
Ceriello says she purchased the business from Rosalie Alexander, of Spirit Lake. The business name will remain the same, she says, and she and the five-year-old shop's three other employees will continue to staff the business.
Storybook Bridal, which sells designer bridal and bridesmaid gowns and wedding accessories, occupies about 2,300 square feet of leased space where it is now, and will move to a 3,000 square foot space in the Gibbs Center, at 1520 Northwest Blvd.
"Our main goal there was to become more visible," Ceriello says.
She adds that the shop will become part of a "wedding plaza" mix of tenants at the Gibbs Center, where a jewelry store and a florist already are tenants. Also moving there, Ceriello says, will be Cameo Events, a wedding and event planning business that she owns and that will operate in the same space as Storybook Bridal.
Storybook Bridal is looking to open at the new location on Jan. 3, after remodeling work there has been completed.
United Tile unveils Spokane showroom
United Tile Corp., a Portland-based tile and stone distributor, has opened a showroom east of downtown Spokane.
Nicole Johnson is managing the 5,000-square-foot outlet, which is in the Pines Professional Center building, at 622 E. Second, at the northwest corner of Second Avenue and Hatch Street, says Mike Redmond, United Tile's Spokane-based regional sales manager. Johnson is a Leadership in Environmental & Energy Design (LEED)-certified interior designer who has worked with local architectural firms since graduating from the interior design program at Washington State University in 2007, Redmond says.
The company plans to hire a third employee here soon, he says.
United Tile has had a sales presence in Spokane for some 15 years, says Redmond, who has been with the company for nine years, operating out of a home-based sales office prior to opening the showroom last week.
Although United Tile sells directly to designers, architects, dealers, and builders, the showroom is open to the public for selection and design assistance, says Ron Cook, United Tile's managing partner.
The company also operates two showrooms in the Seattle area and one in Portland. United Tile, which has sold tile, stone, metal, and glass products for more than 40 years, carries product lines from more than 20 foreign and domestic manufacturers.
