Practice here plans Cd'A clinic

August 25, 2011

Advanced Dermatology & Skin Surgery PLLC, of Spokane Valley, is building an office in Coeur d'Alene, its second overall.

The new location is expected to open by October.

Wendy Stoehr, clinic administrator, says construction of the 8,000-square-foot office started in April on about 1 acre at 1700 W. Riverstone Drive. A permit issued by the city of Coeur d'Alene's building department lists the building's value at $1.2 million.

Yost, Mooney & Pugh Contractors Inc., of Spokane, is the contractor on that project, and Spokane-based NAC|Architecture designed it.

The practice's six physicians will see patients at both its Spokane Valley practice, located at 1807 N. Hutchinson and in Coeur d'Alene once the second office is complete, Stoehr says.

She says each of the physicians plans to spend a day or two seeing patients in Coeur d'Alene.

In addition to the physicians, the practice has one physician's assistant and a nurse practitioner. It employs a staff of 35 now, and Stoehr says the practice expects to hire another 10 employees for the new Coeur d'Alene office. However, some existing staff also will rotate between the two facilities, she says.

"This is being built to service our patients who come out of the Coeur d'Alene area," Stoehr adds. "We've grown through our Spokane office, and this is a way to service those who travel to our Spokane office."

Advanced Dermatology will own the new building. It also owns its 10,000-square-foot Spokane Valley facility.

The new building will have a reception waiting room, an aesthetics area to display products, and areas for cosmetic laser treatments and skin cancer surgery. The surgery suite will have three large rooms, and a general dermatology department is designed to have nine exam rooms, among other treatment areas.

The building also will have a patio area near the river and a coffee-and-tea bar.
