Mobius says science exec quit July 27

Nonprofit names Majer as science center CEO as museum job begins

August 11, 2011

Mobius Science Center CEO Chris Cable resigned July 27, and the organization has appointed longtime board member Chris Majer to fill the position.

Anna Burgard, director of advancement for the nonprofit Mobius Spokane, which is the parent organization for Mobius Science Center, says Majer will serve as Mobius Science Center CEO "for the foreseeable future."

Majer, a founder of Mobius Spokane, also is majority owner of the Spokane-based The Human Potential Project Inc., which organizes training sessions for corporate clients.

Burgard declines to say whether Cable gave a reason for his resignation, and Cable couldn't be reached for comment. Last year, Mobius announced Cable's appointment as CEO. He previously had served as CEO of the Imaginarium Discovery Center, in Anchorage, Alaska.

Burgard says Cable's departure won't affect the fall 2012 target date for opening a science center in downtown Spokane. She adds that the multimillion-dollar remodeling project should start this month at a first-floor space in the former Burlington Coat Factory location at 809 W. Main, across from River Park Square.

The nonprofit has selected Spokane Valley-based Lydig Construction Inc. as the general contractor on the remodel.
