Ptera plans to expand coverage

Liberty Lake-based ISP extends into North Idaho, upgrades to larger space

July 14, 2011
Chey Scott

Ptera Wireless Inc., the Liberty Lake-based provider of wireless broadband Internet, says it plans to expand its service footprint to areas in North Idaho it currently doesn't serve, including Coeur d'Alene, much of Post Falls, and Rathdrum.

The 10-year-old company also recently moved into a 3,000-square-foot leased space in the Meadowwood Technology Park, at 24001 E. Mission, from a space in the Spokane Teachers Credit Union's headquarters building at 1620 N. Signal Drive that it had leased for a couple of years, says company president Jim Wilson.

Ptera has experienced sales growth of about 25 percent each year since the company was founded, and also has worked continually to expand its service footprint throughout the Inland Northwest, he says.

The company currently employs 10 people, Wilson says.

While Ptera's customers traditionally have been rural residences, Wilson says the company now competes with larger Internet service providers that offer connections to businesses and urban customers.
