Western States to erect building for East Spokane Water District

May 5, 2011

Western States Construction Inc., of Valleyford, Wash., has been awarded a contract to erect a $500,000 office building in Spokane Valley for the East Spokane Water District, and is beginning work on the project now.

The new building, which is to be located on the district's property at 704 S. Coleman Rd., will have about 3,200 square feet of floor space and will replace a 600-square-foot office structure built in 1950, says district manager Rick Adkins.

"We've just outgrown our building," Adkins says about the need for the new office facility, which will include a lobby, administrative offices, and a conference room for meetings. Jeff Warner and David Buescher, both with Spokane-based ALSC Architects PS, designed the building.

Adkins says the new building will be constructed just south of the district's current office building, which will be demolished after the project is completed, Adkins says. He says the new building is scheduled to be completed in late October.

The district, founded in 1917, serves more than 1,200 customers.
