Farwest Steel Corp., a Eugene, Oregon-based metal supplier, is preparing to construct a new $6.8 million industrial building in North Idaho, according to application information for a building permit that was issued last month by the city of Post Falls.

Building plans call for construction of a 108,500-square-foot, concrete-tilt commercial structure with an attached office on over 10 acres of land at 4301 W. Seltice Way.

A representative of Farwest Steel couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.

The site is located about two miles east of Stateline and about a half-mile northwest of the Interstate 90-Pleasant View Road interchange, at the former site of the Greenacres Gypsum & Lyme Inc. agricultural mineral center, which has relocated to Spokane Valley.

Garco Construction Inc., of Spokane, is the general contractor, and Portland, Oregon-based Mackenzie Engineering Inc. is providing engineering services. No architect is listed on the permit information.

Greenacres Gypsum & Lyme sold the property in August 2021 to real estate holding company 4301 W Seltice Way LLC, of Eugene, which is helmed by Pat Eagen, Farwest Steel’s president and CEO, according to documents on file with Kootenai County.

The building permit information shows about 30 employees are expected to work at the new facility.

Farwest Steel also operates a facility at the Spokane Business & Industrial Park, at 3808 N. Sullivan Road, in Spokane Valley. The metal manufacturing company has 14 additional locations in seven states: Washington, Idaho, Oregon, California, Utah, Arizona, and Alaska, according to its website.
