A husband-and-wife tandem from Northern California has acquired Spherion Staffing LLC, a Spokane-based franchise of Atlanta-based recruiting and staffing company Spherion Staffing Services.

James Green and April Doty acquired the company, located in the Rock Pointe Corporate Center, at 1212 N. Washington, from Alethea McCann, who recently retired.

Green declines to disclose the terms of the acquisition.

Green and Doty come to Spokane from the Chico, California, area. Green served for six years as a branch manager for Spherion’s office there.

“I’m excited about this new opportunity. Spokane is a major hub for large business,” says Green who adds that he appreciates the Spokane area’s four seasons. “This region has beautiful weather and topography.”

Spherion currently has five employees, and Green expects that number could double in the near future.

Green says he had expressed interest in recent years in becoming a franchise owner to Bill Pasillo, Spherion’s vice president of sales. The recruiting and staffing chain debuted its Spokane office in 2004.

Spherion provides staffing services for companies in the fields of accounting, banking and finance, and light industry.

Green says Spherion gives its internal employees the chances to shop around at other markets the company serves across the country. He says none of the other opportunities were more appealing to him than Spokane.

Doty has a background in sales, and Green says he and his wife are committed to helping Eastern Washington and North Idaho return to work.

Green says he’s familiar with the Pacific Northwest as his mother lives in Renton, Washington, and his sister lives in Bellevue, Washington.

“The Spokane office has an established presence in the county, and we’re confident James is the perfect person to continue fostering and building community relationships,” says Spherion President Rebecca Rogers Tijerino in a press release announcing the move.

Founded in 1946, Spherion says it services the workforce needs of more than 4,000 businesses in the U.S. and operates more than 200 offices across the country.
