Brothers to launch custom motorcycle shop in Hayden

June 18, 2009
Mike McLean

Brothers Gary and Dave Marston plan to open a custom motorcycle shop, to be called Marston's Custom Choppers, on Saturday in Hayden, Idaho.

The business will occupy a 2,000-square-foot building the brothers own, at 9873 N. Government Way, a few blocks north of Hayden Avenue and east of U.S. 95.

The brothers are lifelong motorcycle riders and had designed custom motorcycles as a hobby for 35 years before deciding to go into business, says Cris Marston, Dave's wife, who will manage the showroom and apparel department at the shop.

Marston estimates the cost to build a custom motorcycle will range from $9,000 to $20,000, depending on what the job entails.

The brothers currently are building on speculation a King Arthur-themed bike that will incorporate medieval-looking artifacts that the brothers have collected or fabricated, she says. They also will build bikes to order, she says.

In addition to building unique bikes, the shop will offer custom paint work, Marston says.

A certified Harley-Davidson mechanic will staff the service-and-repair department and will service other makes as well, she says. The shop also will sell motorcycle parts and accessories, as well as motorcycles and hot rods on consignment.
