Carpet One plans store in Liberty Lake

Project expected to be completed next spring

July 1, 2021
Natasha Nellis

A franchisee of Carpet One Floor & Home is planning a new $1.3 million retail store in Liberty Lake, which, if approved, will mark the fourth Inland Northwest location for the company.

The retailer sells flooring materials, including carpet, hardwood, vinyl, tile, and laminates.

According to planning documents on file with the city of Liberty Lake, the project will include a two-story facility with office space on the second floor. The main level will be about 12,150 square feet and the second floor will total just under 2,200 square feet.

Be A Light Properties LLC is the project applicant. A representative of the project couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.

The 1.3-acre parcel is located at 22010 E. Country Vista Drive, on the south side of Country Vista Drive, less than a half a mile southwest of the Home Depot. The property is owned by Be A Light Properties, which is governed by Kyle and Tim Hepper and Chad McDonald, according to public records. McDonald is also a co-owner of Pro Builders General Contractors LLC, of Spokane.

Tim Hepper is the co-owner of the two Spokane County Carpet One outlets located at 9719 N. Division, on the North Side, and 15110 E. Indiana, in Spokane Valley. A Coeur d’Alene store at 739 W. Appleway is owned separately.

Construction of the project is expected to begin by late August and be completed in spring 2022, according to planning documents.

About 10 people will work at the store, plans show. Plans for site improvements also include 27 parking stalls and landscaping.

Simpson Engineers Inc., of Spokane Valley, provided engineering services for the project.

Permits haven’t been issued for the project. Before it can move forward, it must be approved by the hearing examiner. No hearing date had been scheduled as of the Journal’s press time.

Headquartered in Manchester, New Hampshire, Carpet One has over 1,000 stores nationwide, according to the company’s website.
