Denver developer eyes Liberty Lake electric-vehicle dealership

Work on new facility slated to begin in July

April 22, 2021

A Denver-based developer is envisioning an electric car dealership in Liberty Lake, planning documents on file with the city of Liberty Lake show.

The facility, which is tentatively named Mission Auto Dealership, is being developed by Drake Motor Partners Liberty Lake LLC, a company affiliated with Drake Real Estate Services, in Denver.

A representative of Drake couldn’t be reached for comment.

The single-story facility will have 32,400 square feet of floor space for sales, service, maintenance, charging, storage, and delivery of new and used electric vehicles, according to an environmental checklist filed with the city.

The 5.5-acre property is located at 1805 N. Pepper Lane, just north of a slew of vehicle dealerships, including Mercedes-Benz of Spokane, Porsche Spokane, and three other George Gee dealerships just off Mission Avenue. The new dealership will be located on the southwest corner of Mission Avenue and Pepper Lane.

Site plans show the project also includes 185 parking stalls and 22 electric vehicle charging stations. Plans note that three additional charging stations will be added in the future.

Those documents don’t indicate what brands of electric vehicles will be sold at the site.

The Loveland Reporter-Herald, in Colorado, reported in March that Drake Real Estate is thought to be developing a Tesla dealership in Loveland, as well as a dealership in Memphis, Tennessee, though Jon Hauser, CEO of Drake, cited a nondisclosure agreement and declined to identify the tenant at those developments.

Tesla established a service center near the Playfair Commerce Park in east Spokane in summer of 2020.

Construction is expected to begin in July and be completed in March 2022, according to planning documents.

In total, 50 people are expected to be employed at the facility, planning documents say.
