Post Falls developer plans office, warehouse complex

Work has begun on the first of four structures in the $2.5 million project there

February 26, 1997
Emily Brandler

A Post Falls development company says it plans to build a four-building office, warehouse, and automotive-business complex there, and has started work on one building already.

The company, Doerfler Development, plans to construct four, multiunit buildings with a total of about 50,000 square feet of space on a 3-acre site at 414 W. Seltice Way, says Mark Doerfler, who co-owns the company with his wife, Kory. The development, which will be called the Treaty Rock Center, will have office, warehouse, and automotive spaces available to buy or lease, Doerfler says.

The 7,200-square-foot building thats currently being constructed is expected to be completed by June, he says. Work on the three other buildings should start by March, and he hopes to complete the overall $2.5 million project in about a year, Doerfler says.

Doerfler Development is the contractor for the project as well, and Post Falls-based ML Architect & Associates designed it, Doerfler says. The largest building in the complex is expected to be a two-story, 25,000-square-foot structure that will have warehouse space on the ground floor and an office loft on the second floor of each unit, he says. At this point, Doerfler is uncertain how many units that building will have. A third building will have two floors and roughly 11,000 square feet of space, and a fourth structure will have two floors and 5,600 square feet of space.

The development company is close to securing lease agreements with several potential tenants for Treaty Rock Center, he says. Those tenants include a new Post Falls automobile dealership, a franchisee-owned Maaco Collision Repair & Auto Painting store, and a Meineke Car Care Centers Inc. franchise outlet. He says the company primarily is marketing spaces to automotive-related businesses, but also is looking for other light-industrial users.

He says Doerfler Development also owns properties elsewhere in North Idaho. It plans to start a commercial project in Hayden after construction of Treaty Rock Center is completed, he says. He declines for now to disclose further details.
