Goodwill moves e-commerce operations to old Ring &Things building

Jewelry supplies company moves to another Second Avenue location

Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest has purchased the former Rings & Things building at 303 E. Third, where the nonprofit has moved its e-commerce and administration departments.

Heather Alexander, director of marketing and strategic communications for Goodwill, says the organization’s e-commerce and administrative offices had been located in Goodwill’s Outlet Store on Front Avenue, but quickly outgrew the space.

“That line of business has continued to grow over the last several years, and with our staff and mission service programs, they needed more space,” she says.

The site hosts 25 e-commerce employees and 12 operations and transportation team members, says Alexander.

Goodwill has offered online purchasing options for over 10 years.

The online stores offer items from all participating Goodwill stores nationwide, and items purchased from local stores are available for pick up, she adds. Typically, musical instruments, gaming consoles, computers, and other similar items will be sold only online, she adds.

Goodwill purchased the roughly 32,000-square-foot building for $2.4 million in late February, according to Spokane County Assessors records.

The new site is located kitty-corner from Goodwill’s Spokane flagship store at 202 E. Third, which Alexander says was a big draw for the property, as it provides easy access to the organization’s administrative team and forms a Goodwill campus on Third Avenue.

Rings & Things, a supplier of jewelry-making supplies, has moved to 1011 E. Second. The retailer was established in 1972 and is based in Spokane.

A representative of the company couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.
