Action Materials is moving its company headquarters from Cheney to a two-building site near Spokane International Airport.
| Dylan HarrisAction Materials Inc. will move its headquarters from its Cheney location to a site on the West Plains, just south of the Spokane International Airport and Interstate 90, says project architect Paul Harrington, of Romer Architects.
Founded in 2005, Action Materials offers crushed rock, topsoil, garden soils, and landscape products, as well as trucking services and recycling.
Building permit information shows the two buildings being constructed for Action Materials include a 2,500-square-foot office building located on a 5-acre parcel of land at 8575 W. Westbow Blvd. and a 42,300-square-foot fabrication shop on an adjacent 9-acre parcel to the south, at 8579 W. Westbow Blvd., permit information on file with Spokane County shows.
The entire project is valued at nearly $4 million, according to permit information.
The new location will be used for the company's fleet services and will include spaces for wholesale and retail sales of landscape supplies, Harrington says.
The company’s owner, Wade Matson, couldn't be reached immediately for comment.
The Westbow site will be the company’s fifth location. Its four other locations, which all include materials pits, are located in Cheney, Spangle, southwest Spokane, and Reardan, Washington. There won't be a pit at the new location, Harrington says.
The parcels of land that hold the new buildings are owned by AMI Holdings LLC. Matson is listed in state Department of Revenue records as the governing agent of that company.
Construction of the buildings appears nearly complete, although certificates of occupancy haven't been issued yet, according to permit records.
Pro Builders General Contractors LLC, of Spokane, is the contractor for the project.
