Education: Master's degree in education, Seattle University; bachelor's in business communication, Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, Minnesota.

What drives/inspires you? Bravery. I am inspired by people who do hard things every single day, then get up the next day and do it all over again.

What advice would you have for others looking to follow a career path similar to yours? You are going to be scared more often than not, which means keep going; you're doing it right.

Who has been a significant influence in your life and career? People who told me I couldn't do something.

If you had to choose an alternative career path and money wasn't relevant, what would you do? Run a summer camp or a boys-and-girls club.

Spokane native Katie Harnetiaux has over 20 years of experience in marketing roles, most recently as the chief marketing officer for U.S retail for Amazon.com Inc. In October, she left that role and was named president of USL Spokane, the organization representing three soccer teams: the Spokane Velocity FC professional men's club, the Spokane Zephyr FC professional women's team, and a pre-professional women's team also dubbed Spokane Zephyr FC. The professional teams will debut this year, with home matches to be played at the recently completed ONE Spokane Stadium.

A co-owner of the club through Aequus Sports LLC, Harnetiaux is passionate about women in sports and says the club has the opportunity to build the business from the ground up in a way that will resonate with others and make Spokane known for its excellence in professional soccer.
