Journal of Business names 2024 Rising Stars

Ten honorees selected from nearly 100 nominations

The Journal of Business has selected its 2024 Rising Stars. 

They are: 

  • Doug Forkner, strategic investment business partner, Avista Corp. 
  • Korianne Jackson, regional portfolio manager, Douglass Properties. 
  • Tate Kelly, vice president of corporate partnerships, USL Spokane. 
  • Trace Miller, co-founder of Konala LLC restaurant franchise.
  • Emily Moline Meyer, chief engagement manager, Bernardo Wills architecture firm. 
  • Lauren Murray, market executive, Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. 
  • April O'Hair, vice president of human resources, Numerica Credit Union. 
  • Abigail Palacios, founder and owner, Chicana Esthetics LLC. 
  • Demetrius Palmer, vice president of community outreach and engagement, Excelsior Wellness. 
  • Erin Peterson, publisher, Trending Northwest magazine. 

This year’s honorees will be recognized in an event on the evening of Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Barrister Winery, at 1213 W. Railroad, in downtown Spokane. Tickets for the event are now available at spokanejournal.com/RisingStars.

The Journal news team selected this year's honorees from out of nearly 100 nominations received from the company's readers over the past month.

The 2024 class of Rising Stars is the 11th to be chosen by the Journal. To be eligible for Rising Stars, individuals must be under 40 years old, work in the Spokane-Coeur d’Alene area, and demonstrate excellence in their chosen fields and leadership in the business community as a whole.

Past Rising Stars include prominent names in business, including Silicon Valley venture capitalist Brooke Martin, developer Jordan Tampien, Greater Spokane Incorporated CEO Alisha Benson, and The Great PNW founder Joel Barbour, among many others.
