Joann to close 500 stores, including two in Spokane area

Fabric and craft retailer filed for bankruptcy protection last month

February 12, 2025
Journal of Business Staff

JoAnn Stores LLC, an 82-year-old fabric and craft retailer that also does business as Joann, plans to close about 500 of its 800-plus stores, including two in Spokane County.

The announcement comes just weeks after the company filed for Chapter 11 reorganization in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The closures are part of efforts to maximize the value of the business, Joann says in a press release.

Included in the planned closures are the stores at 15110 E. Indiana, in Spokane Valley, and at 2801 E. 29th, on Spokane’s South Hill.

The North Spokane location, at 1840 W. Francis, wasn't included on the company’s store closure list.

An additional 19 stores throughout Washington state will also close.
