Spokane International Airport sets passenger record

Growth expected to continue with new, expanded air services this year

February 20, 2025
Journal of Business Staff

Spokane International Airport is coming off its busiest year ever.

Airport passenger traffic totaled more than 4.2 million passengers in 2024, a 3.2% increase from its previous passenger record set in 2023.

Growth is expected to continue in 2025, according to a press release from Spokane International Airport. This summer, the number of airline seats scheduled through the airport is 15% higher compared to the same period last year.

The press release states that the increase is driven in part by upcoming new or expanded air services to the following markets:

Chicago: On May 22, United Airlines will increase its year-round Spokane service to two daily flights. A couple of weeks later, on June 5, American Airlines will operate new year-round, daily nonstop service to Chicago O'Hare International Airport, and Southwest Airlines will launch seasonal nonstop service to Chicago Midway International Airport.

Dallas: Starting June 5, Southwest Airlines will increase the frequency of its nonstop seasonal service to Dallas Love Field to Saturday and Sunday, from just Sunday.

Denver: Frontier Airlines will return to Spokane May 20 to offer year-round, nonstop service to Denver International Airport three times a week.

Los Angeles: Beginning May 7, Delta Airlines will increase its existing Los Angeles service to include two daily flights. Additionally, Allegiant Airlines will begin year-round, nonstop service to Los Angeles International Airport on May 14.

Spokane International Airport is the second largest commercial service airport in the state. It is served by seven major airlines and three cargo carriers, and supports employment for over 3,000 people.
