

A Circle K Stores Inc. convenience store, gas station, and car wash has been proposed at the northeast corner of Sprague Avenue and Pines Road, where a Denny’s restaurant stood for decades, records submitted to the city of Spokane Valley show.
A representative from Circle K couldn’t be reached for comment.
The proposed Circle K project would be located on two parcels—the half-acre property where the Denny’s diner was located, and the nearly 4-acre vacant property to the east of it.
Both properties are owned by the Harlan D Douglass Trust, tax records on file with Spokane County show.
The longtime Denny’s restaurant, which closed last year, was demolished earlier this year, permit information shows.
Circle K currently operates seven locations across Spokane and Kootenai counties.
Gregory Chernyavsky, of New Jersey-based Colliers Engineering & Design, submitted the commercial development pre-application meeting documents with the city of Spokane Valley for the proposed project at Sprague and Pines.
A contractor isn’t listed on the proposal. Cornerstone Construction & Development Inc., a Spokane general contractor previously known as Meridian Construction & Development Inc., has worked on four Circle K projects, according to Cornerstone's website.
Circle K, which was founded in 1951 in El Paso, Texas, is now owned by Alimentation Couche-Tard, a Canadian convenience store operator. The Canadian company operates about 17,000 stores across 29 counties and territories.
