A pair of Spokane law firms, Carlisle + Byers and Casey Law Offices, have merged to form Carlisle Byers Casey PLLC.

Carlisle Byers Casey currently occupies office spaces of the formerly separate firms in the Paulsen Center building, at 421 W. Riverside in downtown Spokane, but will consolidate down to one space in the next few months.

The civil litigation firm has 16 total employees and one of-counsel attorney.

“The overarching goal is expansion, but it’s not expansion for the sake of expansion,” says Rich Byers, a partner at the firm.

He says the goal of the strategic merger is to combine resources to serve clients better.

“You see a lot of firms merging to chase scale—bigger footprint, more markets, that kind of thing,” Byers says in a press release. “This isn’t that. We’re not expanding to do more. We’re combining forces to do what we already do, better."

For clients, the merger is expected to bring deeper coordination between intake, claim-building, and trial strategy, the release states. It’s also expected to increase early-stage case efficiency.

“This is about helping people sooner and standing by them longer,” says Brandon Casey, also a partner at the firm, in the release. “We’re creating more ways to protect clients from day one—not just once litigation kicks in.”

Carlisle Byers Casey represents plaintiffs in civil litigation cases, such as personal injury, workers’ compensation, contract, insurance bad faith, and medical negligence cases.

Chris Carlisle, the firm’s third partner, says the decision to merge was also based upon a shared passion to serve clients.

“Carlisle Byers Casey is about giving people back their power when they feel most vulnerable,”  Carlisle says in the release. “We’re merging on a shared foundation of compassion, strategy, and grit.”

Casey says part of the firm’s approach for growth is to train new lawyers. Carlisle Byers Casey currently has two legal interns on its team.

Carlisle Byers Casey serves clients in Washington state, with a focus on eastern and central Washington.
