| FileThe Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena will be renamed to the Numerica Veterans Arena, according to a press release from Numerica Credit Union.
The name change will go into effect on Friday, Nov. 7 at the Spokane Chiefs Heroes Game.
The Spokane Public Facilities District and Spokane Valley-based Numerica Credit Union signed a 10-year naming partnership on Wednesday afternoon. The partnership includes a $1 million commitment to support veterans, active-duty military, and their families.
"Numerica is deeply committed to serving those who have served us," says Numerica President and CEO Carla Cicero, in the release. "This is more than a naming partnership. It's a promise to invest in veterans and military families in ways that create lasting impact. We are proud that every time the Numerica Veterans Arena name is spoken, it stands as a symbol of gratitude, honor, and community support."
The credit union is establishing the Numerica Heroes Fund, pledging $1 million over the next 10 years in support of military programs. Spokane County Regional Veterans Services and the Spokane County Veterans Advisory Board will allocate the funds to areas of greatest need, which could include housing, wellness, employment, and family support.
"This partnership is a powerful reflection of what can happen when community-focused organizations come together with a shared purpose," says Stephanie Curran, CEO of the PFD, in a press release. "Working alongside Numerica Credit Union and Spokane County Regional Veterans Services, we are proud to make veterans a more prominent part of the area's identity. This new chapter honors those who have served while continuing the District's longstanding commitment to the community and recognition of the heroes among us."
The name change comes just weeks after the Spokane Convention Center was renamed to the Spokane Convention Center Presented by the Spokane Tribe of Indians, following a 10-year presenting rights sponsorship deal signed between the PFD and the Spokane Tribe of Indians. The deal also includes a title sponsorship for the Exhibit Hall, which will become the Spokane Tribe of Indians Exhibit Hall.
