Payroll Vault location opens in Coeur d'Alene

Services will complement entrepreneurs' existing tax preparation business

November 20, 2025

Coeur d'Alene entrepreneurs Holly and Jay Matous, a married couple, have opened a Payroll Vault franchise location in Coeur d'Alene, at 852 W. Kathleen.

Littleton, Colorado-based Payroll Vault provides accounting and other services including payroll, human resources, background checks, worker’s compensation, and payroll funding for small businesses.

The Matous' Payroll Vault franchise location will serve the North Idaho business community, including those operating in Coeur d’Alene, Hayden, and Post Falls, according to a company press release.

The couple also operates a separate company, Coeur d’Alene-based HM Accounting & Taxation Inc., at the same address, that serves more than 3,000 clients.

“Payroll Vault provides a tremendous opportunity to complement our existing tax preparation business,” says Holly Matous in the release. “Payroll Vault’s proven expertise in the payroll space and outstanding commitment to customer service led us to investing in the franchise."

Payroll Vault offers its franchisees access to remote operating systems with 24/7 technical monitoring to support continuous operations, including recurring streams of revenue from monthly, quarterly, and yearly transactions.

North Idaho is an ideal market for the new company, due to the region's growing population and business climate.

"We believe it is underserved in the payroll space,” Jay Matous says of the Inland Northwest market in the release. "We believe that there are several advantages for clients who have their payroll, accounting, and tax services under one roof.”

Holly Matous, a certified public accountant will bring her financial service background to Payroll Vault. Her husband, Jay Matous, has marketing and sales experience from his previous work in enterprise software.
