Chud Wendle previously worked in banking, sales, and real estate before joining the nonprofit sector, where he currently serves as executive director of the Hutton Settlement, a privately funded children's home in Spokane that serves children who have been abused, abandoned, and/or neglected.

As a servant leader, Wendle says he's focused on fostering positive relationships, building connections, and providing service and support to the children and staff at the nonprofit. He currently serves as chair of the Greater Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce and is a board member of the Spokane Building Owners & Managers Association.

Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, University of Washington; MBA, Gonzaga University.

What's the best career advice you've received? To treat people better than you want to be treated.

What is a major professional accomplishment you're proud of? Being named the fifth executive director of the Hutton Settlement in 2016.

What has been the most important risk you've taken, and why? Leaving the family business in 2007. I took the leap of faith when I left the comfort of working in a business where my financial outlook was safe. There have been several times I've questioned my decision, but I wouldn't be in the position I am today if I didn't take that risk.

What would you tell others looking to follow a similar career path to yours? When you fall in love with the mission of the organization you are leading, pour your heart and soul into it. Work hard at developing a strong network of mentors and peers that can provide you with honest feedback. I'm fortunate enough to work with Kevin Parker in a peer mentoring leadership group that continues to challenge me and not become complacent.
