Residents in Post Falls will soon be able to purchase D. Lish’s Burgers without needing to cross the Washington-Idaho state border as the popular Spokane counter service restaurant plans a second location at the Prairie Crossing Shopping Center, according to a commercial building application currently under review with the city. 

D. Lish’s Hamburgers' second location is planned at 8230 N. Highway 41, in a 2,800-square-foot space with a maximum capacity of 83 people. The estimated construction value of the project is $500,000, including $100,000 for electrical work, according to the permit information. 

Licia Legrant, owner of Spokane-based LL Studio Architect PLLC, is designing the restaurant. Young Construction Group of Idaho Inc. is the contractor on the project, says owner Hunter Schertz. 

The establishment will employ 20 staff and operate seven days a week, according to permit information.

"We are potentially looking at a January 2027 opening date," Schertz says. 

D. Lish's Burgers operates its flagship restaurant at 1625 N. Division, in Spokane. It was established in 1997 by co-founder Dave Lish and his best friend Curt Goller with the vision of offering Spokane an "always-fresh, cook-to-order beef burger with hand-cut fries." 

Schertz and his partner Nathan Lane took over ownership of the restaurant in July 2024, Schertz says. Billing itself as "half-fast food," D. Lish's Burgers offers beef patty hamburgers and cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, and a selection of house-made sauces. 

The Prairie Crossing Shopping Center, owned by Spokane-based GVD Commercial Properties Inc,. is set within the 50-acre Prairie Crossing development at the northeast corner of the Highway 41 and Prairie Avenue intersection. 

Tisha Gallop, permit coordinator for the city of Post Falls, says the 7,800-square-foot shopping center was constructed by Spokane-based Baker Construction & Development Inc. The $3.2 million multitenant property was completed in June, according to permit information. Other tenants at the shopping center include Jersey Mike’s Subs and The Man Shop. 

At the northeast corner of the development, at 7721 W. Prairie, a Super 1 Foods Grocery Store is planned, she adds.
